Thinking about: Panic at the brainstorm! AI is stealing all the snacks!

The author, Tom Goodwin, says we’re at the “AI As Sparkly Magic Wand” stage and I tend to agree. He says,“This phase brings hype, confusion, false promises, and a lot of reinventing the wheel with new labels. We’re not transforming processes – we’re slapping ‘AI’ on stuff we used to just… do.”
But a lot of us are also at the “AI as Boogeyman” stage, and I get it. But c’mon, people thought the Internet was going to trash our jobs as creatives and we’re all still here.
Machine learning, LLMs and what we call “AI” today are already changing processes and workflows in our industry. I’ve written for lots of clients creating AI-driven solutions and platforms and I’m not scared.
Craftsmanship is getting sped up. Brainstorming is expanding exponentially. Context is easier to grasp. But the real spark of inspiration is inherently human — and that can’t be automated. So pass the snacks and let’s keep pushing.
